Skilled Trades and Technology
Our Skilled Trades training programs prepare youth for various career opportunities.
Skilled Trades and Technology Program: Milestone Youth Empowerment (Milestone YE) aims to transform how young people are supported into meaningful employment. We believe that to change how services for young people are delivered and funded, we need better evidence about the impact of the work with young people on the outcomes that we care about. Skilled Trades and Technology Program (STTP) is a program of MYE that opens the door for disadvantaged young people not in work who are looking to enter the workforce to explore and work in apprenticeship occupations. Youth have an opportunity to become registered apprentices and work towards becoming a skilled professional who has completed an apprenticeship program by demonstrating competency in specific skills and has completed the certificate of qualification in a skilled trade while completing their secondary school diplomas. Our goals are: • To empower youth with the essential skills and strategies needed for success in today’s competitive market. • To provide youth with the opportunity to start training in a skilled trade while completing the requirements for Secondary School Diploma. • To enable youth to make the school to work transition by direct entry into apprenticeship training and to connect them to employers. • To provide employers with the opportunity to train the skilled workers they require. • To provide a viable solution to address the problem of skilled tradespeople shortages in general, and specifically the lack of young people joining the trades.

Youth Career Exploration Event
A dynamic event that connects young people with mentors, industry leaders, and opportunities in emerging fields.
Skilled Trades and Technology Days: Milestone YE’s Trades and Tech Days are an opportunity for youth who identify as disadvantaged people not in work to meet and network with community members who have already chosen a career in the skilled trades and technologies. Youth learn about the journey of these mentors and explore their interest through experiential activities. These events not only deliver a unique mentoring opportunity but also provide youth with information from us in-school presentation program, as well as with the experience to participate in workshops. This combination allows students to actively explore the knowledge and skills involved in skilled trade and technology occupations. Out of several hundred participants, over 90% have reported being more interested in considering a skilled trade or technology career after attending MYE’s Trades and Tech Days. Educator and workshop leaders have expressed the success of, and need for, this programming in their communities.
The Youth Initiatives program tailors the Milestone YE presentation program to a hands-on workshop with culturally relevant information. This workshop is designed to educate students on the hundreds of career opportunities available in the construction, motive power, service, industrial and technology sectors.

Young Women's career Exploration
Empowering young women to pursue careers in science, technology, business, and the arts through workshops and mentorship.Milestone YE is proud to present a series of Skilled Trade & Tech Days (Career Exploration Events). These events provide young women the opportunity to explore a variety of skilled trade and technology careers through hands-on workshops. Young women will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and valuable information to make informed decisions about their future.
Milestone YE is proud to be hosting our popular in-person events every year! Young women will have the opportunity to travel to a local vocational training college or industry location to learn about skilled trades and technology careers! During the event, young women will:
• Gain an understanding of what skilled trade and technology careers are out there and why they are important.
• Learn about different careers in the skilled trades and technologies.
• Learn about and try different day-to-day activities preformed in a skilled trade and technology career while participating in a variety of hands-on workshops.Young women will have the opportunity to attend an Industry Event, meet local representatives, gain an understanding about available opportunities through that employer placements, Training opportunities and Apprenticeship programs.
During the event, young women will:
• Gain an understanding of who the employer is, what they do, what they offer in terms of training, apprentice and job opportunities.
• Learn about the different career opportunities available with the employer.
Summer camps, Teach abroad & I E
A transformative experience that brings together youth, educators, and volunteers from across Africa, and around the globe.This is not just a camp; it's a celebration of diversity, skills, and shared learning.
Participants will engage in hands-on workshops, cultural exchange, outdoor adventures, and personal development sessions. These camps are designed to unlock creativity, build confidence, and foster lifelong connections.
Teach Abroad Program

Milestone YE’s *Teach Abroad* program invites passionate educators to spend time in Africa during our annual summer camps, teaching key subjects like English, STEM, art, and entrepreneurship.
This exchange builds bridges of understanding, empowers local teachers with innovative teaching methods, and inspires the next generation of African leaders. Whether you’re an experienced teacher or an education student, your contribution can leave a lasting legacy.
